History
Founded in 1943, Maxwell State Bank began as a hometown institution with a bold idea: that local banks should help fuel American innovation. From farm loans and first mortgages, to today’s digital age accounts and merchant services, we’ve evolved to meet the moment — never compromising on care, privacy, or values.
Maxwell State Bank was founded to serve resilient farmers, hardworking laborers, and members of our community, becoming a cornerstone of local prosperity. Iowa’s farmland played a vital role in America’s economy during this time, and Maxwell State Bank stepped in as a financial lifeline, offering loans for farm equipment and savings accounts for families, when our community needed it most.
We were dedicated to our commitment of providing for our community, and in the 1950s and ‘60s, Maxwell State Bank expanded its services, helping local families build homes and businesses while navigating economic shifts like the farm crisis of the 1980s.
By the turn of the millennium, as digital innovation reshaped how we bank, Maxwell embraced tools to empower individual freedom and community bonds, from online banking to secure privacy-focused accounts.
